The second edition of the Modena Cento Ore Classic will be held from 12th to 15th May 2001. |
| Following the formula which brought succes to the event
last year, although there have been changes to the four days into two
sections, "Speed" and "Regularity", with special time-trials on some of
the best known racing roads of the Emilia Romagna and Tuscany Apennines,
as well as on-track trials on the Ferrari (Fiorano), Imola and Mugello
circuits. The event will be open to cars of real historic value classifield
in periods D,E,F,G and H (G and H with racing history only). The start
will be in Modena on Saturday 12th May, leading to the special exhibition
trial which, together with the ranking obtained from the trial on the
exclusive Fiorano cicuit, will establish the starting order for the next
morning. On Sunday 13th the competitor cars will climb along the attractive
roads of the Emilia Apennines, with a number of special trials along the
route to raise the racing temperature; the day's finish will be at the
lovely town of Riolo Terme. The third day, Monday 14th, will see the teams
fighting it out in a demanding "ronde"; an early start will take them
to the Imola circuit where they will partecipate in an initial team trial
before leaving the track and ancountering a special trial in the nearby
hills, followed by a return to the track for a second speed race. On Tuesday
15th the teams will transfer to Mugello; after the trial there, they will
be back on the road for the race to the finish in Modena, with another
special road trial en route. For the second time, the enthusiastic spectators,
the four gala evenings, the beauty of the landscapes along the way and
the excitement of a real racing context are sure to delight those teams
lucky enough to take part in the Modena Cento Ore Classic; some prospective
participants have already started to contact the organisers' addresses
to register.
